JOB TITLE:                  Mortgage Processor

REPORTS TO:             Head of Mortgage Lending

FLSA STATUS:            Non-Exempt



Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures, is responsible for processing mortgage loan applications and preparing necessary closing documents for each approved application.  Establishes loan files and orders documentation required to process and close loans.  Is accountable for the accuracy and completeness of all loan documentation and for processing Conventional, Kentucky Housing, Rural Housing, FHA and VA loans.  Performs any combination of the following duties, depending upon the department requirements:



  • Reviews originated mortgage loan applications received for further processing and gather necessary documentation needed to receive loan approval and prepare closing documents, such as ordering titles, appraisals, credit reports, surveys, and necessary verifications for employment, rent, and deposit accounts.Contacts customers or others to obtain additional information as needed.

  • Reviews and/or prepares all appropriate loan disclosures to be within compliance to the RESPA Laws, and in accordance to the loan programs set forth by Citizens Union Bank and its investors.

  • Assembles and verifies accuracy of residential loan documentation.

  • Prepares loan settlement statement, including the breaking down of buyer/seller costs and notifies the appropriate parties of such costs prior to the closing.Prepares closing documents and loan disbursement papers, contacts appropriate parties for the disbursement, and maintains loan records of disbursement amounts.

  • Provides administrative assistance to the residential Loan Officer and staff, including updating loan data for entry into the financial institution’s computers and assembling documentation for residential loans.

  • Maintains new and completed residential loan files.

  • Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures, using office computers for data input and other activities.

  • Maintains regular contact with other employees, customers, and others obtaining information, answering questions as needed.

  • Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning loan processing and loan information.

  • Orders departmental office supplies from the purchasing department

  • Performs other tasks requested by supervisor as they relate to the department and/or Bank and its functions such as insuring loans, booking loans, and shipping loans



    Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with a concentration in the business field.
  • Basic understanding of mathematical calculations and strong reasoning ability.
  • Proficiency in typing and broad knowledge of departmental operations, policies, and or procedures.
  • The interpersonal skills to communicate effectively via telephone with employees, applicants, and customers. 
  • Must speak clearly and project a pleasant tone over the telephone.
  • High proficiency in compilation of correspondence to customers regarding confidential information. 
  • Vocabulary, punctuation, and proper sentence structure.
  • Proficiency level of knowledge with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and networking capabilities.
  • Highly motivated, detailed, and task oriented
  • Works well meeting deadlines and under pressure.
